In the news for May 2015

Pain - Khalil Gibran
And a woman spoke, saying, "Tell us of Pain."
And he said:

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.

2015 WMR Annual Conference Update: The Time is Now!

We are expecting over 130 people at this year's annual conference. If you want to attend, you may register at "the door" as a commuter (all rooms are sold out). Registration opens Monday, June 1st at noon. We look forward to seeing you there!

Emerging Practice for Peer Service Conference

The Emerging Practice for Peer Service Conference is the first large scale opportunity for peers to come together as a unified developing workforce hosted by OhioMHAS as a demonstration by OhioMHAS of its commitment to all peer services. Participants will have the opportunity to earn CEU’s and learn about topics which are not typically addressed in the peer community. The conference is designed for all persons providing peer support services for individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders whether they serve in a paid or volunteer capacity. The conference will provide opportunities for participants to enhance their skill level and promote a recovery oriented system of care. This conference is for individuals with a lived experience of mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

The conference will take place at Holiday Inn Worthington on June 8-9, 2015.
